2 night stay at this lovely Hotel.. the rooms are clean and comfortable, the food is outstanding but the thing that sets this hotel apart is the superb customer service .. 1st class .. Thank you John , Frank for making us feel so welcome and a special thank you to Alfie.. my mum just loved you .

Delicious food, great service- no need to be staying in the hotel to go to the restaurant! Upmarket food with classy decor. Speed of food preparation was very fast compared to most restaurants! Civilised setting with lots of tables- also toilets available to the general public.

Torrent Walk Hotel

Smithfield St, Dolgellau LL40 1AA, UK – 01341 422858

The food here is absolutely amazing. Fresh bread and real fried potato chips. Portion sizes are large. Compliments to the chef and all staff members! Would definitely recommend.

We haven't stayed at the hotel, we only tried the food in a bar downstairs - it was really good! Excellent pie and cod with salad selection. :)

Y Meirionnydd

Smithfield Square, Dolgellau LL40 1ES, UK – 01341 422554

Quality, well preped food, beautifully cooked. This is the upper end of food available in Dolgellau. Good prices too for such quality.

Great room , nice bathroom, breakfast was good and they will accommodate any special preferences , very friendly staff / owner. Only thing against it is quite expensive but quality is there and you are right in the middle of town.

Cross Foxes - Bar Grill Rooms

A487, Brithdir, Dolgellau LL40 2SG, UK – 01341 421001

Absolutely sublime food. I’m a fussy/snobby eater, but this place really ticked all the boxes for me. We turned up an hour before closing and they were still super accommodating, the food was still amazing and the service was all-in-all fantastic. I’m also a tight fisted git sometimes, but I couldn’t leave without dropping a large tip... the general price of everything was incredibly fair for substance and quality. Our waiter was amazing also. Very polite and gave us the space we wanted while we ate... but was also attentive and had a great sense of humour to boost the whole atmosphere. Also a lovely view from the dining room. Not a place I’d be driving past again, but if I ever did I’d stop in for a quick bite to eat.

Visited the Cross Foxes on a Friday evening. We did not have a booking but were lucky enough to get a table. They were really busy. The menu is good, just enough choice. The food arrived quickly, it looked and tasted amazing. Really really good. Enjoyed every bite of it. The double chocolate tart was just phenomenal, really loved it. Make sure you try it yourself. Service was great, the waiters were kind and friendly. I was stupid enough to leave my wallet on a table. They run after me to the car park in the rain and gave it back, cannot thank for that enough. Awesome food and service, recommended!

Travel Super Market search and compare prices for hotels all over the world. Could also be useful for you. I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!

Helmau Cottages

Maes Yr Helmau, Dolgellau LL40 2RE, UK – 01341 423974

Lovely cosy place to stay. The owner is wonderful and it feels like a cute little home away from home, with beautiful views of the Welsh valleys .

Nice quiet setting lovely cottage friendly helpful hosts. Close to good road links to Barmouth and up to north coast.

Torrent Walk Cottages

Brithdir, Dolgellau LL40 2RF, UK – 01341 422263

I can’t say how nice these cottages are but The Torrent Walk itself is one of, if not the best hike I’ve ever done. It’s not too long, nice and shady and the views of the ‘torrents’ are beautiful. For best effect, go after it’s rained :) Park on the B4416 in the lay-by right near the old school come back 100 yards to a little path and style and go down, then come up the other way right back to the cars :)

Bed & Breakfast Accommodation plus Guesthouses

Plas Gwyn

Plas Gwyn, Cader Rd, Dolgellau LL40 1RH, UK – 01341 388176

Excellent stay - very comfortable room - fresh Welsh cakes and home made fudge in the room every day- very friendly hosts.

Wonderful B&B, owners very friendly and welcoming. Rooms were comfortable and large. Breakfasts were good with all local produce. Would definitely stay again when in mid Wales.

Dwy Olwyn

5 Coed-y-Fronallt Estate, Dolgellau LL40 2YG, UK – 01341 422822

Perfect place to stop. Superb breakfast and a very friendly chatty host. Room was ideal for 4 friends who just needed a place to rest. East walking unit centre and what a view to wake up to.

We stayed at Dwy Olwyn for one night and it was great. The room had everything you would wish for and our host was very friendly and helpful. It's located at the edge of Dolgellau but it's 10 minutes away walking distance from the town centre, which shouldn't be a problem for anybody. Overall, my experience was great and I would certainly come back.

Aber Cottage

Smithfield St, Dolgellau LL40 1DE, UK – 01341 421413

Nice guest house in the centre of Dolgellau, recommended.

Very professional people, the staff live in the hotel and they are available always for you. Lots of attention. The hotel was very very clean. Silent room. No problems at all. Very recommend. It's worth it.

If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!

Campsites and Caravan Parks

Tan-Y-Fron Holiday Park

Arran Rd, Dolgellau LL40 2AA, UK – 01341 422638

Visited March 2018. We had one of the Pods. The site was very well run and we had no issues at all. It's a very short walk into town and only a 10 minute drive to The Mach Loop. Already booked again for August.

This site is in a super location for several stunning walks; along the water to Barmouth, up to Cadair Idris and just a 5 minute walk into the pretty town of Dolgellau. Tan-Y-Fron is a clean, tidy park with a friendly keeper, nice hot showers and beautiful countryside views from the campsite. Not particularly busy for the time of year, so go and visit!

Torrent Walk Campsite

Dolgellau LL40 2AB, UK – 01341 422269

Great for families and couples. Lots of places to walk and little friendly town called Dolgellau nearby.

Nice campsite & good location for trips around Snowdonia. There are a variety of pitches in the main field with or without electric hook up & pitches up on the hill (pitches are levelled off). There is an overflow field as well. I believe but gets very busy at bank holiday weekends & showering could be an issue as there are only 3 shower per men's/womens block. You get a nice view of Cader Idris & there is a nice walk up the lane to the river. Dolgellau is a couple of minutes drive & has most of what you need supply wise.

Tan-y-Fron

Arran Rd, Dolgellau LL40 2AA, UK – 01341 422638

I saw some mixed reviews on this place. We stayed in a pod earlier this year and couldn't fault anything. It's a very short walk into town where there is a very well stocked CoOp. I've already booked another week. It's less than a 10 minute drive from the mighty Mach Loop.

Great guy very accomodating and immaculate pods with stunning views. And electricity with tv in pods =bonus. Wpuld come again but I wont be driving too far...
